Quality Scales Unlimited recently installed a rental Rice Lake Weighing Systems ATV scale at Grist Creek Aggregates. Grist Creek Aggregates is an operating quarry located on Outlet Creek east of Willits California.

The multi-day project began in Byron at QSU headquarters with the loading of the four scale section modules onto the Grist Creek flat bed truck. QSU technician, Bill used our new heavy duty Palfinger crane to load the 12’ wide scale sections onto the Grist Creek truck. After the scale traveled over 180 miles north to Outlet Creek, technicians Jeremy and Stuart, worked for two days on-site completing the installation project. The project included assembling the scale panel modules, wiring the loadcells and junction boxes, and calibrating the scale to receive and weigh aggregate. The Rice Lake ATV scale is legal-for-trade, rated for loads up to 100 tons and has an asphalt undercoating which provides corrosion protection in harsh environments such as quarries.

Grist Creek Aggregates is locally owned and operated in Mendocino County. Local customers rely on Grist Creek Aggregates for a source of high quality, concrete aggregate, stream bed strata, decorative aggregate and cobble stones. The quarry’s location on the North Fork of the Eel River produces hard, smooth and high quality aggregate free of foreign material as well as large, colorful cobbles, perfect for a wide variety of building needs. The company was started five years ago with the intention of supplying Northern Mendocino and Southern Humboldt businesses and residents quality local aggregate products at competitive prices. Grist Creek Aggregates supplies asphalt for Mendocino County roads which keeps county tax dollars spent on the roads in the county. In the past, aggregate used on the local roads was trucked from Humboldt County or other counties to Mendocino.
