Sierra Pacific Industries, a forests product company in Lincoln California was the site of a recent truck scale installation performed on a Saturday by two of our veteran technicians, Jeremy and Jose.  With the advice of the Quality Scales Unlimited’s sales team, Sierra Pacific purchased a 70’ x 11’ Rice Lake Survivor OTR truck scale with an above ground foundation and side rails.  The Rice Lake Survivor OTR is rated for loads up to 100 tons and for concentrated load capacities up to 100,000 pounds. The Survivor is a beefy truck scale made of 20% more steel than any other comparably priced truck scale.  These heavy duty features are essential for weighing Sierra Pacific’s forest products.

Jeremy said issues with the concrete foundation initially posed problems, but after adjusting the foundation piers, the two technicians successfully leveled, anchored, calibrated and placed the new truck scale in service with the county of Placer.

Sierra Pacific Industries is a third generation family-owned forest products company who owns and manages nearly 1.9 million acres of timberland in California and Washington and is the second largest lumber producer in the US. Sierra Pacific points out harvesting trees is much different than it was 50 or 100 years ago.  Their state of the art equipment optimizes every fiber of each tree and the company uses modern forest management practices developed to reduce impact on the environment.
