Quality Scales Unlimited is a partner with many California and Nevada ranchers who depend on accurate scales to weigh their market ready livestock. One recent partner, Vitality Farms in Brentwood, California, recently bought a Rice Lake portable animal scale for weighing sheep and cattle.
The portable animal scale manufactured by Rice Lake is the world’s only Legal-for-Trade mobile animal scale. The mobile scale’s patented design consists of a deck and pen sides, suspended on load cells at four points within a portable base frame. The mobile animal scale can be transported to various locations and is suited for unpredictable conditions of multi-use sites with the scale producing Legal-for-Trade weights while situated on off-level terrain up to four degrees. When the scale is in weigh-mode, it measures only six inches off the ground allowing for quick, easy and safe animal loading and unloading.
Vitality Farms specializes in organic farming and livestock management and currently manages 975 acres outside of Corvallis, Oregon and 5300 acres near Brentwood, California. Working with land owners, Vitality Farms has developed on-farm infrastructure including irrigation systems, roads, livestock fencing, new building construction and general maintenance and repairs. Several hundred of the 6,000 acres are certified organic and several hundred more are in transition to become certified organic.
