Recently, Quality Scales Unlimited installed two “unattended” printer kiosks at a South Bay Transfer Station. These kiosks included intercom communication, allowing the driver and Weigh Master (in the scale house) to clearly communicate while the vehicle is on the scale being weighed. This equipment helps our customer process inbound traffic in a safe and efficient manner. Drivers do not have to leave their trucks to obtain their Certified Legal for Trade Weigh Master Tickets. The Weigh Master Tickets are printed from the kiosk using customized (NTEP approved) software. Additionally, our customer’s internal “route trucks” can be processed at these kiosks.
The kiosks are installed on swing away poles that keep the equipment from being damaged by a passing truck.
All of the weight, communication, and transaction information are controlled by the Weigh Master from a PC installed in the scale house. The kiosk equipment is connected to the scale house via hardwired Ethernet. This removes the possibility of Radio frequency interference, which can be common at a busy transfer station.
